Condtion Blue -- A Risk of Severe Weather

The Chicago National Weather Service Office will issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook each morning. A Condition Blue will be initiated when the Storm Prediction Center in Normal Oklahmoma issues moderate or higher risk of severe weather for our region. This means that at some point in the next 24 hours, severe weather might occur.

Condition Green - Severe Weather Watch

The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK will a severe thunderstorm or tornado watch when conditions are favorable. A watch is issues when severe weather, and possibly tornadoes, are likely within the next few hours.

 

Condition Yellow -- Severe Weather is Possible Soon!

If a county detects the formation of potentially violent weather but no warning has been given, the county may go to "Condition Yellow". Also, if a warned storm in a nearby county is approaching, a county may move to condition yellow.

Condition Red -- Severe Weather Warning
The Chicago National Weather Service has issued a warning for the affected county resulting in the county going to "Condition Red". Warnings can be based on radar detection or spotter reports. Spotters should be looking for severe weather as well as verifying severe weather that may or may not have occurred with the warned storm.
